We are currently recruiting for the position of Principal Ecologist.
This is an opportunity for someone with a proven background in Ecology to lead an expanding and dedicated Ecology team.
The Head of Division will report directly to the Managing Directors and work closely with senior management to build on the success of the Ecology division as a succinct business unit. The role requires commercial awareness, deep understanding of ecology, and enthusiasm to lead a dynamic and driven team of ecologists. The Head of Division will also ensure that the Ecology division provides support to the Forestry and Arboriculture disciplines.
The position can be based out of any of the company's six offices, located in Dublin, Oranmore, Edgeworthstown, Kilkenny, Newcastlewest, or Carrick-on-Shannon
Responsibilities:
- Leading the Ecology team.
- Collaborating with the senior management team to expand the range of ecological services.
- Managing and developing ecological services within the company.
- Overseeing workflows and ensuring that service delivery is of the highest professional standard.
- Compiling technically sound ecology reports of various types.
- Providing advice and guidance on ecological matters to other service disciplines.
- Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and guidance to ensure company compliance and interpreting this for colleagues and the management team.
- Effectively managing a large workload.
- Managing time and project delivery in an organized and proactive manner to ensure the smooth delivery of reports and projects.
- Contributing to company policies related to the protection and enhancement of biodiversity in client forests.
- Engaging with company systems to ensure effective communication across all disciplines.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Relevant degree in Ecology or related discipline is essential.
- Member of CIEEM.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to manage large projects to tight deadlines.
- Full driving licence is essential.
- Willingness to travel throughout Ireland and abroad as projects may require.
- Previous experience in GIS including ArcGIS and QGIS is desirable.
